If given without context, the name Sid Hallifax may well lead you to assume that the bastard child of talentless bass player/ professional drug addict Sid Vicious and fictional television character Dr Jane Hallifax f.p. was indeed alive and kicking...

It may lead you to conclude that someone out there was attempting to blend the furious lifestyle of late 70’s punk movement with the clean-cut, step-by-step progressions of a medical television drama into a script that follows a young punk (a young man filled with a rage that is only tempered by his heart of gold) on his quest to accomplish his dream of being a doctor specialising in heroin administration...

Perhaps Sid Hallifax could simply conjure an image of who Sid vicious might have been had he not met Nancy Spungen, and subsequently never taken up the nasty habit that eventually led to his untimely demise; that is to say, a bright but ultimately boring young man who was so emasculated and disenfranchised by life without punk rock that he married and took the last name of a fictional Television doctor...

In all likelihood, the name Sid Hallifax probably suggests none of these things to you...

So here is some context:

Fronted by a humble young man by the name of Josh Taylor, Sid Hallifax is an acoustic rock project based on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. At once pleasantly soothing and broodingly cathartic, the project draws subtly upon many musical influences but never relies upon any of them as a crutch that might allude to a lack of talent... And most importantly, unlike Sid Vicious, Josh can most definitely play his instruments of choice... he is also definitely not into heroin at all.
