When I Was 02:48
When I was thirteen I was given my guitar I remember that year so well my parents fell apart And at the age of fifteen I was drinking with my friends A little lost but okay, we were all dreamers back then I often think of the nights we’d sit by the beach and the partying scene And at times, we’d tell a lie, to raise our self-esteem So turn the lights down, turn the lights right down I’ll tell you what I’m thinking right now I’ve been holding out for this for a chance to reminisce the stories we had back in our teens We’re all growing up too quick, getting older by the minute or so it seems
2.
I’ve been feeling tired this week A little rundown off my feet I’ve got the same old scene running through my head Over and over and over again Cigarette smoke fills the air And all my friends are drunk beyond repair Some would say that we’ve all been wasting away But we’re just getting wasted ‘Cos we’re all doing oh so fine A little drunk, a little all the time We’ll stumble back to the house we go To damage brain cells at a place everyone knows I walk through the street on a winter’s night Dragging my feet through the low streetlight We’re all coming down one by one again Shadows fade as the sun comes out We hang around for a morning shout A liquor distorted point of view I’ll feel more like myself once this bottles through

Kelly 04:09
She overdosed waiting for the world to change on the corner of a dead end street Her parents at home, she was alone, she was only sixteen Her father took the call, it was late at night the city was fast asleep He couldn’t believe, he wouldn’t believe what was happening He screamed oh no don’t go, Kelly won’t you keep me company? Fill me with glee, baby won’t you please come back to me? He said I blame drugs, sex, booze, rock ‘n roll, and beauty magazines They took my queen, she aint ever coming back to me And everyone sobbed when they heard her song At the chapel they cried at their feet It’d only be three whole weeks ‘til she’d turn seventeen Her mother lost the plot she was all messed up on the corner of Pitt Street She couldn’t believe, she wouldn’t believe what was happening She screamed oh no don’t go, Kelly won’t you keep me company? Fill me with glee, baby won’t you please come back to me? She said I blame drugs, sex, booze, rock ‘n roll, and beauty magazines They took my queen, she aint ever coming back to me He screamed oh no don’t go She screamed oh no don’t go They screamed oh no don’t go They screamed oh no Kelly don’t go He said I blame drugs, sex, booze, rock ‘n roll, and beauty magazines They took my queen, she aint ever coming back to me She said I blame drugs, sex, booze, rock ‘n roll, and beauty magazines They took my queen, she aint ever coming back to me

Up Late 03:34
You’ve got me thinking that something aint right You’ve got me sleepless, so sleepless at night Wide awake, watching another sunrise These eyes are so bloodshot my mind is far from paradise You’ve got me up late falling out of love again I know that we can’t, we can’t, we can’t rebuild it again I got your message, your message of sympathy A handful of sentences, one of them said you missed me You know that I was always by your side You stomped on my heart, kicked it, tore it apart There’s your reason I never replied You’ve got me up late
5.
Sunny Town 03:37
I’m from the south side of the coast A sunny town hidden from the city smoke I’m from the east side where stories flow I met a man by the waters edge he had his head in his hands “Hey what’s wrong?” is what I said He said “My girlfriend’s got bad news she could be gone in a month or two” “We work together at the local bar, she picks up glasses I kick out the drunks” I see the waves come crashing down All around this peaceful town I see believers sticking to their dreams And those who just believe that life is so obscene I know we’re always told to bite our tongue But this moment’s all I see In the end its all that’s ever mattered to me
6.
Engine 04:25
They see me happy on the outside They never look into my eyes because they paint a different picture than before She says I’m broken on the inside I’ve run out of things to complain about Shut down my engine I don’t want to be here ‘Cos I think my eyes have seen enough Through faded photographs and memories in between I have seen enough to rest these eyes tonight They say I’m losing my mind I’ll write it down and show you all the reasons why I’ve seen it all, I’ve seen the way good men fall, they ever get to see another day Hold me tonight
7.
Oh here she comes with some bad news once again Little miss bad news she’s my friend She’s only here to preach her dead-end stories to my ears Little miss bad news, sadly, she’s my friend How do dilemmas keep you sound? And spreading sad news makes you proud How do you ever sleep at night? With all these fucked up things travelling through your mind Oh here she comes with some bad news once again Little miss bad news she’s my friend She’s only here to preach her dead-end stories to my ears Little miss bad news she’s my friend Somehow she always gets me down As I lay tied and bound, frowning at the ground We cannot stay the way we are When your lies keep lighting fires, burning us apart She’s my friend, she’s my friend, she’s my friend
8.
I’m paying too much money for the channels on my TV screen Flicking through every one of them puts me to sleep My car won’t start ‘cos the engines stuffed and my girl left me How else do you think I’m meant to be? ‘Cos lately I haven’t quite been feeling me I’m never one to hide my feelings They aren’t make belief The doctor said to seek some therapy My friends are all I really need I’ll be just fine In a month I’ll be alright I call my best friend late at night ‘cos I just can’t sleep We hit the drink ‘til our brains refuse to think An eviction, I’ve got bills to pay, been knocked off my feet How else do you think I’m meant to be?

Tunnel 03:08
Somehow I’ll find a way to pick myself up I’ll be okay I’ve got my mind all too a little bit confused I can’t escape I’ll sing for much better days For when I won’t have to feel the pain They say time heals wound My hearts a little bruised I can’t escape But there’s some light passing through an open tunnel Leaving a passenger behind through the mist in the night And I’ve been aching in pain for weeks at a time but it’s starting to fade I’ll leave the memories behind Somehow I’ll find my way Through the dark in the light of day I’ve got my mind all too a little bit confused You can’t relate I’ll shoot for much better days ‘Cos I’ve got so much more to gain They say love will do this all to you one day
10.
I still remember sitting by the harbor at night I still remember we couldn’t string a sentence right And I still lie awake at night I caught a glimpse of someone who looked just like you Stared into his eyes and memories came on flooding through It’ll take some time but we’ll be alright We stick together more now than we ever did We’re still broken since you left, we can’t make sense of it We’ll watch those coloured balloons fly high I won’t ever take this life for granted again When all you ever gave to us was happiness And I still lie awake some nights I caught a glimpse of someone who looked just like you Stared into his eyes and memories came on flooding through It’ll take some time but we’ll be alright We stick together now more than we ever did We’re still broken since you left, we can’t make sense of it We’ll watch those coloured balloons fly high I wish that you were here for just one more day So that you could hear the things that people have to say "He was a good kid with a golden heart" We stick together now more than we ever did The boys are broken since you left we can’t make sense of it We’ll watch those coloured balloons fly high
